Electronics to live for ages and transform the industry in many ways! Open to Partner with suitable collaborators in building solutions which can be truly a ‘Make in India’ initiative - Srinivasan Duraiswamy
In our ESDM Talk with Mr. Srinivasan Duraiswamy, (Srini), the Founding Member and Managing Director of India operations of Mobiveil with HQ in Milpitas, California provides Intellectual Property and Solutions around IP’s. They believe in investing in new technologies bringing in IP’s and products that can be licensed to many OEM’s. Their IPs include sRIO, DDR4/3 controller, LPDDR 4/3 controller, NVMe, ONFI/Toggle Flash Controller, LDPC etc.
Mobiveil had invested in developing multiple IP’s which can enable in developing a complete Solid-State Drives. Their recent investment is towards Battery Management System for Clean Energy and Automotive. They are also involved in developing AI based Robotics solutions and Small Cell Private network infrastructure for 5G networks. Mobiveil provides ASIC/FPGA Design, verification and implementation Services, Hardware, SI, PCB Layout, Embedded Software and Telecom software.
Srini comes with over 3 decades of working experience in Systems and Embedded Software cutting across Networking, Telecom, Compute and Automotive industry. He is open to partner with suitable partners in building solutions which can be truly a Make in India initiative
We are on our voyage to disseminate the latest trends and actions in the electronics industry. Mr. Srinivasan Duraiswamy in his discussion with Saravanam J, COO – Elfonze Technologies shared his insights:
1.What has been the growth of our ESDM sector in the last decade?
While the manufacturing sector had improved with many manufacturing facilities coming up and big product companies like Apple setting up their manufacturing facility, the import of components, its struggle and ease of component sourcing methods needs to improve if we need to compete globally
2. What are the major factors for the growth of this sector?
Increased local consumption and the threat around the world on stability and good practices as few I think are major factor for growth in this sector. The focus in this segment for last 15 years by various political parties is commendable towards achieving this self-reliance. The growth over here I believe can help bring down the trade imbalance in Electronics industry.
3. What are the challenges the players in ESDM sector are facing?
Major challenge I could categorize are component sourcing, talent pool and the comparative cost we need to shelve for those talent which is significantly high in India which makes it challenging for Indian manufacturers to compete globally.
4. What is the support required from the Government to make our nation self-reliant in the ESDM?
Of course, good infrastructure with uninterrupted power, incentives for new players to get into the field, semiconductor fab and component pooling with less hassles on import and export may be major drivers. Setting up many manufacturing hubs like SEZ’s with attractive price points with clean energy source should be focus of the government. I remember government talking about clusters in various cities and I had not tracked on those how they are thriving to comment further.
5. What are the new technologies that are playing a pivotal role in the manufacturing?
I will pause as I am not an expert on this to comment. 3D printing I believe had enabled for bringing faster prototypes
6. What are your suggestions for the players and start-ups in the ESDM sector?
Bringing value engineering and automating the process with clean room awareness are the key aspect I expect players in this segment to focus
7. What are your tips for the budding engineers?
Focus on improving our technical capabilities and stability in an organization in initial years than going behind money. This is the industry which is expected to live for ages and is transforming the industry in many ways. The growth in last 3 decades and especially the last decade is phenomenal, and this growth is expected to sustain for generations. This is core for any IT industry and hence investment in early years will help to sustain for decades.
8. Anything, you wish to add up specifically to this segment?
Cross Industry participations and bringing in innovative solutions will help differentiate and sustain for longer period
